Pinddaan at Gayaji

In Hinduism, it is a popular belief that for the liberations of the souls of our ancestors, we must perform Pinddaan. According to Ramayan, Lord Ram along with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita performed the Pinddaan at Gaya for his father King Dashrath. The Pinddan puja begins at Falgu river and ends at Akshay Bat. During Pitrupaksh around Sept-Oct, there is a mela organised at Gaya every year. This time is considered to be the best to perform the rituals, however pinddaan can be done all throughout the year.
