Patna, erstwhile known as Patliputra was the capital of Magadh Kingdom. It has a history that dates back to 490 BC. Once a seat of power, Patliputra is believed to have ruled over a major part of India. The city is located on the southern banks of Ganga and boasts of a picturesque view from the shores of the river. It is home to astronomers and scholars like Aryabhatta and Chanakya.
Patna is also a religious centre for Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. Tenth guru of Sikhs was born in the Gurudwara located at Patna Sahib in the old Patna.
